The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially Vera who arranged me a pick up from another hotel at the south of the island and a tuk tuk to the ferry port when I left. Room assistants were very friendly, always with a smile, and they offer laundry service for a fee. Everything was clean and working a/c in the room is very much appreciated when it's so hot outside. Room was ok, budget room for 1 person, a bit dark but it's ok. Cleaning the room every day and in the evenings they would come to prepare your bed (mosquito nets and insecticide) which is really nice. The room has also a safe where you can leave your valuables without worrying. Top location, few minutes away walking to main points like the Old Fort, Freddy Mercury's house, Old Slave Market, etc.

It is an old traditional building of Zanzibar architecture. So beautiful room! Although, is old is very well maintained and beautifully decorated. The bed was tall and comfortable, fresh and the staff was so helpful, they even brought me a beer when I asked for it!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Emerald Palm and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel's location was perfect, within walking distance to the most important attractions. The staff were warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful. They help us with many activities to do, went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities we needed. I would highly recommend Emerald Palm to anyone looking for memorable stay. We can't wait to return!

The staff were fantastic; approachable, friendly and genuinely compassionate. The building is old and very traditional and 'authentic-looking', I personally loved this as it made it feel very cosy and like home. The staff helped me with my suitcase to get it up to my room. My room opened out onto a terrace which had a lot of plants and a bench which i loved. The room was really clean, had good Wi-Fi, and all the basics I needed: kettle, teas, robe etc. They took good care to prevent mosquitoes. It is located in a small alley in the heart of Stone Town which means cars cannot get to the front. But it is right by the old fort and not even a mins walk from car access. As a solo female traveller, my main concern is always safety, but i felt really safe here as there is always someone at the desk, and the hotel is so close to the main areas so i dont have to walk for ages during the night. Overall I had a great experience! :)

Our stay at Canary Hotel in Nungwi, Zanzibar, was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our trip even more enjoyable. With the help of their in-house booking agency, Choum Tours, we easily arranged a Blue Safari trip and a safari to Mikumi, both of which were seamless and well-organized. The breakfast was a highlight, with a great selection of fresh fruit that we loved. The hotel’s location was perfect for exploring Nungwi Beach and the surrounding area. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend Canary Hotel for anyone visiting Zanzibar.

Lovely staff, great breakfast, located in the middle of centrum, aircondition in the room we slept in. We got upgraded from a normal double room to deluxe family room, really recommend that size :)

The staff are absolutely phenomenal, genuinely the best, most friendly service I've ever had. Thank you Donald and the team!! They make you feel like family. Rooms were great, simple and all you need, cute little shared terrace that we also used alot. The included breakfast at Harbour Kitchen was also wonderful, ordered dinner one night from there and were absolutely blown away - so delicious! You can often feel separated from the people and culture of a town when you stay in a hotel but here you feel absolutely amongst it and get a beautiful experience of Zanzibari life. Don't listen to the negative reviews about this hotel, it's honestly wonderful.

We stayed only two nights. The location was perfect and close to key attractions. The staff were also very attentive. The rooms and decor were pretty with character. Water pressure good and Aircon worked well. Breakfast was fine with omelette and toast. (I'm not big on brekkie anyway)

I had a wonderful stay at the Emerald Palm. Staff was so gracious and helpful. Rashid, the manager, took time to show me around the immediate area of Stonetown. As a solo traveler I felt welcomed and safe. The room is nicely decorated and sparkling clean. My luggage was brought to my room and when I left my jacket behind, Rashid was quick to be sure I got it back. Breakfast was delicious and less than 10 feet away at a restaurant where I also had a couple of dinners because the food was so good.

This hotel is conveniently located near the ferry to Dar es Salaam. If you’re looking for a traditional stay, it’s a good choice. The owner, Jay, is friendly and helpful. Just across from the hotel, there’s an Indian restaurant that serves Indian good including Jain and Swaminarayan food.
